    Abstract

Community care has been adopted as the principal service delivery strategy to various target groups, especially the mentally ill, in Hong Kong. The success or failure of community care services depends upon the input and support from the formal sector, the informal sector and the interweaving between the two. This paper reports on youth attitudes, acceptance, views on integration and perceptions of the ex-mentally ill. It was found that, generally, youths are positive towards the ex-mentally ill. However, a substantial majority of the respondents still maintain a “no opinion” attitude.
