Abstract
The compositional cycle (White) Planes in Dissolution was inspired by the suprematist painting of the same name by Kazimir Malevich (1879-1935) and the following quotes:
‘suprematism is the dominance of the object by colour.’
Kazimir Malevich, 1915
‘black and white serve as energy to disclose shape.’
Kazimir Malevich, 1915
To date, only two works of the cycle have been completed: the first is for a prepared saxophone quartet and the version presented in this concert for chamber orchestra. Three more works are still in progress and will be completed in the near future.
