Abstract
In a previous study, Ho (1989) introduced two operators ‘ +’ and ‘ middot; ’ to represent the parallel and series connections of circuit elements and also established five theorems for determining the minimality of resistor-capacitor (RC) networks. Based on Ho's theorems, two simple formulae are derived that can be used to determine the minimality of RC networks in a more straightforward manner. These formulae can easily be programmed in pocket calculators or computers. To determine the minimality of an RC network, these formulae are just routinely applied without the need for an intelligent guess or search.
