Two-photon phase-sensitive amplifier via Raman-driven coherence

The theory of a two-photon phase-sensitive amplifier is presented when the coherence is produced between the atomic levels by two driving fields in a Raman configuration. It is shown that, under appropriate conditions, there is equal gain but unequal added noise in the two quadratures.
