Abstract

The contributors to this volume have approached the subject of tourism and issues related to it from a theoretical and empirical point of view. While there is consensus that tourism contributes to the economic development of a country, its impact on regional parts may not be as clear cut. The impact of tourism on the welfare of a country must be explored fully if a nation is to enjoy the benefits that are presumed to be inherent with this economic activity. This new book examines both static and dynamic models of tourism. In addition this book highlights the relationship between tourism and economic development and growth.
