Abstract

The crystal structure of bis(2-chlorophenyl) disulfide has been determined and refined to a residual of 0.035 for 1573 observed reflections. Crystals are monoclinic, space group P21/a with Z 4 in a cell of dimensions a 7.724(1), b 22.360(7), c 7.917(2) Å, β 114.75(2)°. The two chlorophenyl rings are synclinally related with a torsion angle of -85.0° down the disulfide bond vector.
