Abstract

This entry introduces continuities and changes in the role of journalism educators in the digital era. As technology advances and the world continues to become a networked knowledge society, journalism is reinventing itself. Teachers of journalism are now providing journalistic training in a new social, technological, and educational context. In this new era, on the one hand, they must fulfill their traditional missions; on the other hand, they have new tasks to accomplish. There is a call for reconsidering their social function, pedagogical approach, and curriculum design. They are also encouraged to strengthen their professional and academic exchanges at the international level and to participate in the global community of journalism educators.
