Abstract

This article presents the design of an automatic controlled surgical practice table that is tailor-made for orthopaedicsurgical workshops in wet laboratory. Based on the identified essential ergonomic features for orthopaedicsurgeriesi.e. Trauma (lower and upper limb), Adult Joint Reconstruction (hip and knee), Arthroscopy, and Micro-surgery, a table with modular structure and automatic height adjustability is designed and fabricated. A total of nine tables were assembled and placed inside a wet lab of 80m2 to conduct surgical practices by surgeons and trainee doctors. The table design successfully fulfilled the needs of the six mentioned surgery types.
