Abstract
Eight monoporphyrinate lanthanide complexes of the general formula [Ln(Por)(H2O)3]Cl (Ln=Yb3+ and Er3+, Por=tetraphenylporphyrin dianion (TPP2-) and its para-substituted derivatives) were prepared and characterized by elemental analyses, MS, IR and UV-Vis spectra. Photoluminescence studies showed that porphyrinate dianion absorbed the visible light, transferred the energy to lanthanide ions and enabled the later emitting in the near-infrared region. The effects of substituent and solvent on the photoluminescence efficiency were also discussed.
