Abstract

Treatment of 5,10,15,20-tetraphenylporphyrin(H2tpp) with an excess of YbI"[N(SiMe3)2]J-.x[LiCl(THF)3]) generated in situ, in refluxing bis(2-methoxyethyl) ether solution, yielded the unexpected neutral oxalate-bridged dimer, [YbIII(tpp)(CH3OCH2CH2OCH 3)]2O2-22-O 2C:CO2) 1, the structure of which was ascertained by X-ray crystallography.
