Abstract
This study examined the stress level and stress sources of individuals serving as volunteers in the 2007 Special Olympics World Summer Games. Results suggested that although the stress level was only moderate, not having prior knowledge of individuals with special needs is a significant contributor to stress. In addition, insufficient training, support from colleagues, lack of concern shown by event organizers, delayed notifications, and lack of clear operational instructions and work allocation can also contribute to stress. Recommendations on volunteer training are suggested.
