Abstract
The spontaneous radiation from a V-type three-level atom embedded in a photonic crystal with three-dimensional dispersion relation is studied. The radiation field displays some novel behaviors, which are different from that for the isotropic case, due to no singularity in the density of states for the anisotropic case. The picture of the transference between the localized field, the diffusion field and the propagating field is given. The significant difference between the isotropic and anisotropic models resulting from the difference in the density of modes (DOS) is found.
