Abstract
The spontaneous radiation from a two-level atom embedded in photonic crystals with anisotropic three-dimensional dispersion relation is studied. We find the properties of emitted field depend on the atomic transition frequency and the band edge. The coexistence of a localized field and a propagating field is removed, because of no singularity in DOS. A diffusion field (incoherent propagating field) can be formed with all the initial energy of the atom under certain conditions.
