Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to compare media coverage of avian flu in Hong Kong and in the United States, based on an analytical framework derived from the literature on public risk perceptions. Notably, this study uses the psychometric paradigm to identify a number of dimensions that should be taken into account when analyzing news coverage of risky issues.
