Abstract
OBJECTIVE: To separate the total extract of Ephedra sinica Stapf into two parts, ephedrine alkaloids and non-ephedrine alkaloids, and to investigate if the non-ephedrine alkaloids part has thrombolysis effect. METHODS: Chloroform was used to isolate ephedrine alkaloids and non-ephedrine alkaloids. A cerebral ischemic model of SD mice developed by ferric chloride was applied to test the thrombolysis effect of non-ephedrine alkaloids part. RESULTS: The non-ephedrine alkaloids part had apparent thrombolysis effect. CONCLUSION: There may be some effective components in non-ephedrine alkaloids part which has shown the total pharmacological effect of Ephedra sinica Stapf.
