Reveil 2026: Kadoorie Farm and Botanic Garden Live Stream

Research output: Non-textual formPerformance

Abstract

Reveil 2026: Kadoorie Farm and Botanic Garden Live Stream is a participatory live-stream contribution to Reveil, the 13th edition of Soundcamp's annual 24+1-hour international broadcast circling the earth by tracking the dawn chorus on Dawn Chorus Day. A live open microphone was installed at Kadoorie Farm and Botanic Garden (KFBG), Hong Kong, using a custom-built DIY streambox (Raspberry Pi Zero, IQAudio codec, Lom mikroUsi microphones). The stream was hosted on the Locus Sonus soundmap (National School of Art Aix-en-Provence, France) and broadcast internationally via Wave Farm WGXC (New York), Resonance FM/Extra (London), and a network of FM and net radio stations, reaching an average of one hundred simultaneous online listeners. The work extends the researcher's practice in ecological listening and acoustic commons, positioning the soundscape of Tai Mo Shan as a node in a globally distributed, real-time listening environment.
