    Abstract

The global positioning system (GPS) has been used extensively to track vehicles and provide traffic and positional information for fleet management. This paper discusses the experience of three Singapore-based taxi companies that implemented the GPS-based Automatic Vehicle Location and Dispatch System (AVLDS) to effectively support taxi service management.
