Abstract

Treatment of [Et₄N]₂[WSe₄] with an excess of PPh₃ gives the W(V) dimer [Et₄N]₂[W₂Se₆]. Reaction of [Et₄N]₂[WSe₄] with PCy₃ (Cy=cyclohexyl) in the presence of [CuCl] in CH₂Cl₂ affords [(μ-WSe₄){Cu(PCy₃)}{Cu(PCy₃) ₂}] along with a cubane-like cluster [W₂Se₄(η²-Se₂CH₂) ₂{Cu(PCy₃)}₂], which has been characterized by X-ray crystallography.
