Abstract

Treatment of [Et4N]2[WSe4] with an excess of PPh3 gives the W(V) dimer [Et4N]2[W2Se6]. Reaction of [Et4N]2[WSe4] with PCy3 (Cy=cyclohexyl) in the presence of [CuCl] in CH2Cl2 affords [(μ-WSe4){Cu(PCy3)}{Cu(PCy3) 2}] along with a cubane-like cluster [W2Se42-Se2CH2) 2{Cu(PCy3)}2], which has been characterized by X-ray crystallography.
