    Abstract

Based on field studies, we argue that firms should pay greater attention to the issue of procedural justice (PJ) in operations management, new product introduction (NPI) in particular. Moreover, we posit that the relationship between PJ and NPI is mediated by cross-functional integration (CFI), especially the integration or cooperation between operations and marketing functions. Moreover, firm’s NPI strategy moderates the relationship between CFI and NPI. Analyzing data from multiple sources in China, we obtain evidence in support of these arguments, finding PJ to exert a positive effect on NPI, and CFI and NPI strategy to exert a partial mediating effect and moderating effect, respectively.
