N2 - This study aimed to examine the influence of health literacy,
presentation format and presentation state on the comprehension of
personal digital health information among middle-older aged users. A
three-factor mixed design was employed in experiment. Task performance,
perception measures and eye movement measures were collected from 25
middle-older aged adults under health literacy (i.e., low, medium and
high), presentation format (i.e., bar graph and text format) and
presentation state (i.e., static presentation and dynamic presentation).
Repeated measures analyses of variance were used to analyze experiment
data. The results showed that high health literacy resulted in a higher
accuracy rate. Bar graph made fewer errors compared to text format.
Although dynamic presentation was not perceived as easier as static
presentation, it led to a longer total fixation duration. Presentation
format significantly interacted with presentation state on perceived
ease of comprehension and total fixation duration. However, they may
also limit focus to localized information, hindering understanding of
the broader context.
