    Abstract

This report introduces a children’s English literature library project the author implemented in his undergraduate English language teacher education programme. Through modelling literacy practices found to be effective with young English language learners, he aimed to increase his students’ readiness for teaching. The project was found to be beneficial to the development of students’ pedagogical content knowledge regarding children’s English language literature and its uses in the classroom. Implications for initial teacher education are included.
