Abstract

Luminescent pentanuclear tetra-decker Ln(iii) complexes [Eu ₅L₄(OH)₂(NO₃)₄(H ₂O)₂]•NO₃•3H₂O 1, [Nd ₅L₄(OH)₂(NO₃)₅MeOH] •3MeOH•2H₂O 2 and [Eu₅L₄(CF ₃SO₃)₄(MeO)₂(H₂O) ₄]•CF₃SO₃•H₂O 3 are formed from Ln(NO₃)₃•6H₂O (Ln = Eu (1), Nd (2)) and Eu(CF₃SO₃)₃, respectively (H₂L = N,N′-bis(5-bromo-3-methoxysalicylidene)phenylene-1,2-diamine).
