Abstract

As the title implies, Passions, explores some of the strongest feelings, longings, and
desires we experience in our lives. The music spans a range of emotions, at times
solemn, tender, and dreamlike, at other times restless. From the start, there is an
underlying tension; this ultimately proves relentless and leads to a bold maestoso
conclusion. In the end, we are left to reconcile our feelings and find—I hope—a sense of peace.
Passions is dedicated to violinist Sini Virtanen.
