Abstract
Well before the coronavirus ravaged tourism in early 2020, a quiet transformation had been under way in Macau. Attempting to shed its dominant identity as a rough-andtumble gaming center for Chinese gamblers, this former Portuguese entrepot is aiming to become a destination with culture at its core. Pansy Ho should be credited as one of the masterminds behind Macau's makeover.
