Abstract

In this case study, a systematic approach was developed for assessing and managing the odor at a major slaughter house in Hong Kong. For the purpose of evaluating the odor impact and to determine the maximum allowed odor emission rate for potential odor sources to comply with the regulatory requirement, the EPA Industrial Source Complex-Short Term dispersion model was used. Based on the results of the odor modeling, an odor treatment system was proposed. The effectiveness of the model was evaluated by conducting a small scale pilot test.
