Abstract

We use N,N′-diphenyl-N,N′-bis (1-naphthyl) (1,1′- biphenyl)- 4,4′diamine (NPB) simultaneously as the hole transporting (HT), the electron transporting (ET) and the light emitting (EM) layer in organic light-emitting diode (OLED). A single-layer NPB device, which was found to emit blue light with a luminance of 66cd/m2 and a current efficiency of 0.1cd/A at 80mA/cm2 was fabricated. By doping the NPB layer with a blue dopant, perylene, the luminance and the current efficiency have been improved enormously to 536 cd/m2 and 0.7cd/A respectively at 80mA/cm2.
