Abstract
This paper presents a new method for pose estimation of planar shape from a single view using perspective transformation. The basic idea of the proposed method is to construct a unit circle on an object plane virtually, then to find the invariant axes under perspective. Unique analytical solution for determining the pose of an unknown shape was given provided that 4 pair points are given. The method is applied to determine the human head orientation. The experimental results show that the proposed method is effective for determining the head orientation.
