Abstract

We report the experimental realization of non-Abelian braiding of sound and light. Here, the braiding operations are implemented using coupled waveguide arrays, which are adiabatically modulated to enforce a multistate Berry-phase matrix that swaps modal dwell sites. Braiding of up to three acoustic modes and five photonic modes are successfully observed. The non-Abelian characteristic is observed as sequence-dependent dwell-site distribution at the output of the waveguide arrays.
