Abstract

Enantiomerically pure sultams (+)-4 and (-)-4 were synthesized from tricyclic sultone 1 via a four-step reaction sequence. Their uses as new chiral auxiliaries in asymmetric Diels-Alder reactions with diastereoselectivity up to 94:6 are presented.
