Abstract
A random tiling of two or more basic cells can be an equilibrium state possessing quasicrystal order. The thermodynamic stability of such a structure is explained by the large entropy associated with quasicrystal arrangements. This paper reviews simulational work performed on a two-dimensional atomic system and on several different classes of two- and three-dimensional random tiling models. These studies have confirmed theoretical predictions on phason fluctuations in an equilibrium random tiling. -from Author
