Low Flame

Research output: Non-textual form › Exhibition

Abstract

Low Flame is a kinetic sculpture made from a streetlight and a motor. A broken streetlight sits upside down on the gallery floor, flickering persistently and slowly rocking back and forth. Its movements are programmed to suggest a desire to reconnect with its base and turn over, yet it cannot, like a moth endlessly drawn to an unreachable flame. The light functions without serving its purpose, using technology and automated motion to question our relationship with larger systems. Presented as an invited artist in Stay Connected: Supplying the Globe (28 February – 31 May 2026) at Tai Kwun Contemporary, curated by Dr. Pi Li and Ying Kwok, the work appeared in the exhibition's Ecological Footprints section in the F Hall Gallery.
