Abstract

Liesegang rings (LR) of various types of Ag dendrite crystals are observed from an aqueous solution based on a simple galvanic displacement reaction between a Zn plate and Ag ₂SO ₄. The growth process and formation mechanism of LR of Ag dendrites are investigated in detail. The synthesised LR of Ag dendrites have been successfully employed as a Raman probe for SERS analysis of melamine.
