Abstract
China launched the Belt and Road Initiative in 2013, but the program only really took off in 2015. The initiative is open to any and all countries. Rather than imperialism, its aim seems to be to establish Chinese economic and political hegemony by constructing an alternative to American influence. Western Europe has also been affected. What benefits does the initiative bring? And what dangers might it pose?
