Abstract

GenAI, like ChatGPT, has revolutionized global education. This preliminary study examined the acceptance process of GenAI for learning among Hong Kong college students. Data from 182 valid responses were collected through online and offline surveys. The study incorporated social media exposure and perceived subjective norms into the technology acceptance model (TAM). The results indicated that the TAM effectively explained technology adoption, with social media exposure predicting perceived usefulness and perceived subjective norms predicting perceived ease of use. The implications and limitations of the study were also discussed.
