Abstract

This chapter lays out and explains the rationale, purpose, design, and methodology of this book based on a large-scale collaborative study. Research questions are framed and objectives are outlined. The chapter further outlines the overall design of the study, which establishes the theoretical basis for using a stimuli-perception behavioral framework and cross-societal analyses to develop an Asian perspective on combating misinformation. The multiple research methods employed for the large-scale study are outlined; data collected specifically for the cross-societal analyses are described.
