Abstract

The Contemporary Festival welcomes Vertixe Sonora again, this time under the direction of the Argentine maestro Mariano Chiacchiarini and with a program full of absolute premieres, by authors from the Canary Islands, Galicia and different African countries. It will be on Wednesday, October 11, at 8 p.m., at the Guiniguada Theater.

This concert will be a prelude to the centenary of World Music Days in South Africa, programmed in collaboration with the International Society for Contemporary Music (ISCM).

In the first part of the concert, Chiacchiarini will lead a talk with the composers. Vertixe is made up of sound and plastic artists, jazz musicians, classical performers and people from theater and dance with a common desire to develop proposals with a global artistic perspective and that find their reason for being in artistic excellence and a strong commitment to the music and the creators of our time.

Vertixe Sonora integrates outstanding contemporary music soloists. This Galician collective promotes a space open to reflection, discussion and exchange in the field of contemporary music.

Their concerts dialogue with the arts, knowledge and technology, with a strong commitment to musical creation. Since its presentation in 2011, it has developed intense activity: national and international tours, more than 175 concerts, informative activities, 192 absolute premieres by composers from 37 different countries.

Vertixe Sonora performs in concerts of its soloists, chamber music and ensemble, developing projects in the field of multimedia, dance, poetry and performing arts. His work has been featured in the documentaries 'Correspondencias Sonoras', 'Sonutopias' and 'La lira del desert'. In addition to the CD with the finalist works of the XXVI Young Composers SGAE-CNDM Foundation, he recorded for WERGO the cycle Die Wanderung by the composer Lula Romero and dimension of the fragile, about the Mexican composer Víctor Ibarra.

Since 2021 he has been a member and represents the Spanish section in the INTERNATIONAL SOCIETY OF CONTEMPORARY MUSIC (ISCM).
For his part, the Argentine musician Mariano Chiacchiarini, endorsed by world critics with important international awards, was awarded first prize in 2008 in the Conducting Competition of the Teatro Colón (Buenos Aires).
