Abstract

Incantation refers to the repeated words and phrases that constitute religious ceremonies and magic spells. These utterances, spoken and sung, have the power to connect us with the spirit realm, transporting us to places of unexpected beauty and terror. Incantation was composed for the musicians at the Aspen Music Festival and School in 2013 and revised and extended for musicians of the Hong Kong New Music Ensemble in 2022.
