Abstract
This article presents information about the positive influence of feedback from professors, teachers or peers on the learning performance. Individualism-collectivism (IC) influences the way students seek feedback. Preference for exchange is much higher among students with collectivist values. It can also be assumed that collectivist students would also seek feedback on electronic discussion boards. Hierarchical power distance has a negative influence on students seeking feedback from professors. A study showed that participation in many electronic forums had a positive relation to multiple-choice tests, but that increased intensity of such participation had a negative effect. It was theorized that intense participation provided those students with a deep, but very limited knowledge.
