Abstract

In the digital age, AI technology allows business students to learn in a more personalized and convenient way. This study explores how the motivation to use AI tech affects business students' self-efficacy, and focuses on the mediating role of AI literacy. We picked 193 business students from a Chinese university as a sample and used SEM for data analysis. The results show that the motivation to use AI technology significantly boosts students' AI literacy, which in turn significantly improves their self-efficacy. Notably, AI literacy plays a full mediating role between motivation and self - efficacy. The findings suggest that educators should integrate various AI tools (like generative AI platforms such as ChatGPT and AI-driven analysis systems) into business courses to spark students' motivation for improvement-oriented and entertainment-oriented learning. Also, cultivating students' AI literacy is crucial for effectively turning motivation into confidence to complete tasks in an AI- enhanced learning environment. This study highlights the key role of AI tech in modern business education and offers a proven framework for understanding the psychological mechanisms behind tech-enhanced learning outcomes.
