Abstract

There has been increasing responsibility placed upon the tertiary education institutes to equip their students with ICT skills. The main purpose of this study is to understand and explain the performance difference of Arts and Science undergraduate students in the study of an ICT course. The results obtained show no significant differences between the two groups of students on the overall score of the ICT topics. However, Arts students scored significant higher for the topic "IT Challenges" while Science students scored higher for the topic "Connecting to the Internet". Our conjecture, as supported by some related work in the literature, is that it is the learning style of students of different disciplines being a key factor causing the score differences.
