Abstract

This paper describes an Enhanced Snakes Algorithm (ESA) for contour detection. In ESA, a novel split and merge technique is added to the original snakes model so as to enhance the model to support detecting concave object contour. A set of images is selected to evaluate the proposed algorithm and the results are encouraging.
