Abstract

The article discusses a study related to delegation in the workplace, specifically why delegation is related to its demonstrated outcomes and which conditions render delegation effective. The article states that objectives of the study are to examine organization-based self-esteem (OBSE) as a potential mediator of the relationship between delegation and the work outcomes of task performance and job satisfaction, and also to examine the moderating influence of traditional value orientation on the delegation-work outcome relationships. The article concludes that individuals high in traditional value orientation will not respond favorably to delegation, and that delegation may influence role conflict and ambiguity, negatively affecting task performance.
