N2 - Most of the thinning algorithm nowadays are based on bilevel images. In recognition of hand-written words, such as signatures, the use of grey-scale image is better because much data is available from the image. In this article, we propose an efficient thinning algorithm based on Euclidean distance transformation (EDT) on grey level image. The output of our algorithm consists of the skeleton of the object as well as the intersection points. Moreover, the proposed algorithm is efficient and accurate in finding the skeleton.
