Abstract

Economic analysis plays a crucial role in carrying out any process in a bioreactor. Starting from an idea, its implementation, receiving specified raw material, processing, and product, the individual cost affects the desired outcome. In this chapter, different aspects of a cost analysis of a bioreactor have been discussed where the focus has been given on economic analysis of waste management bioreactors. The chapter discusses the Monte Carlo cost estimation method for analysis of membrane bioreactors and annual expenditure for Aerobic and anaerobic membrane bioreactor facilities by Scale for wastewater treatment. Aspen Capital Cost Estimator’s cost estimation for two important bioreactors, stirred tank reactor and bubble column reactor used for aerobic fermentation processes has been discussed.
