Abstract

“De faux échos” is an acousmatic composition that explores the timbral dimensions of AI-generated sonic material. The piece is formulating a continuum of interchangeable and superimposed timbral spaces that comprise sounds that have been subject to various approaches of re-synthesis and spectral transformation. The sonic canvas of the piece revitalizes the sonic flaws of the AI-generated audio samples, such as noise and annoying glitches, and focuses on the creative narratives that are deeply ingrained in this material. The exploitation of the noisy roughness in favour of retrieving hidden sonic nuances that can be potentially valuable in the conception of the music affected both my artistic choices and the nature of the DSP tools that were designed and used throughout the creative stages of the piece. The piece is heartily dedicated to Roberto Alonso Trillo and supports the creative investigations of the DEBRIS PROJECT (https://robertoalonsotrillo.com/portfolio-item/the-debris-project/?fbclid=IwAR0r0He-veaDddLyZL_rxw44tQUFuy3FHA7NnhrBfMD2_TfVde8YusHLjBs).
