    Abstract

It is with a heavy heart that we, two of the coeditors of this volume, write this concluding chapter in remembrance of our colleague and friend, Professor Sumner B. Twiss (affectionately known as Barney), who passed away on May 22, 2023. Barney’s contributions to the field of comparative religious ethics and his commitment to promoting cross-cultural dialogue and understanding were invaluable. As the first editor of this edited volume, he played an important role in the planning, preparation, and final stages of this book by offering his expertise and insights in comparative ethics to shape its contents. He continued to contribute to this volume until the month of his passing by proofreading and editing the final draft. This edited volume will doubtlessly stand as one of his lasting legacies. We deeply mourn Barney’s passing and will miss his presence and contributions to the field.
