Classroom Society: Developing and Enhancing Student-teachers' Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes Towards Their Classroom Socializing Practices

    Abstract

    The project aimed at enhancing student-teachers’ knowledge, skills and attitudes towards their socializing practices in the classroom and developing local teaching and learning resources on the topic “Classroom Society”. A total of 115 student-teachers and their 2449 pupils participated in the two-phase project which included data collection, establishment of personal and class profiles and engagement in follow-up guided reflection process. Student-teachers’ learning outcomes which were assessed through a questionnaire and follow-up interviews indicated that the project enhanced their self-reflection and deepened their understanding of the ways they impart values, and attitudes, in their classrooms,. Furthermore, the project activities aroused their awareness of their role as agents of socialization in the classroom.
