Abstract

Modern public relations in China started after the former president, Deng Xiaoping, reformed the economy by its opening-up to the Western world in 1978. Since then, the development of public relations has gone through four stages, which map with economic developments. These have led to the current status of maturity and rapid expansion. China’s public relations, however, has cultural and philosophical roots dating back 4,000 years.
