Abstract
Various aspects of deploying and implementing Web caching proxies over the Internet are discussed. Proxy caching effectively reduces the network resources that Web services consume, while minimizing user access latencies. Some key challenges faced in Web cache management and present solutions available are presented. Cache replacement and prefetching, consistency management and cooperative management are the key cache management issues. The huge size of Internet also pose as a big issue in cache management. The security problems created by the use of proxies are also discussed.
